KC Race Promotions - Motoplex 6/20/2008I finally had the opportunity to head up to visit the folks that run the Racefreex Motoplex in Brainerd (off of highway 371). Things have changed a bit since the last time I covered a race up in that region. First off, There is now a KTM Dealership at the race facility (RaceFreex KTM) , and a full service shop / parts counter / and rider gear shop. I have to say, having all of this at the track is a handy thing for all riders, not just those on KTM. Forgot your gloves, need a new helmet? Needless to say, having a dealer so close to the track is handy, and you don't have to pay those exotic "track vendor" prices either! A few hundred yards from the shop, exists the same motoplex setup that many of us in the sport have enjoyed in the past. Great lighting, audible announcing equipment, and even an FM transmitter (for those watching the races from their car or truck) make this a great facility for Friday night race action. On that note, the first trip back to Brainerd provided lots of entertainment with regards to the race activity. Pictures from this event are now up, and just over 1000 to boot! Some have noticed that the pictures were posted and asked me for more shots, or if I had any of them as they had been missed. If I didn't get a shot of you, I do apologize, and I post up every usable image I have (even some bad shots). RaceFreex 6/20/08 Highlight Image

As with the case with MK, I am going to attempt to post up one full resolution highlight image from every race I attend. These images are full quality as taken from the camera (I usually use the medium sized image setting in my camera). This shot is obviously directly after the gate had dropped during one of the later main event races. I actually have no idea what race, this was, or who the riders are, as I don't have schedules or rider lists for KC Race Promotion's races. The only thing I can tell you is that #132 along with a few other riders in the group had an unfortunate collision shortly after this picture was taken. Everyone came out okay, but it doesn't take away from my liking this particular shot. |

MXMatt.com through the Whoops - Jordan 6/13/08
Well as many riders have been checking the site during the past couple of weeks have noticed, the site has had issues. The hosting provider for this site had a few hardware glitches with the server, and caused it to be down quite a bit, and before that, had speed / performance issues. They say that things are now back to being 100%, and I was finally able to post up some of the pictures from recent events. Motokazie Jordan 6/13/2008
An other nice day in Jordan, with a few scattered showers looming, this wasn't as muddy as the previous event, and made for some good, and a bit cleaner (talking mud) racing. The highlights of this race will best be viewed in an upcoming CycleUSA article that I submitted to that magazine. Starting with this event, I will be posting up one full size snapshot that showcases one moment in the event, and gives everyone a taste of the full size images available on the photo CDs, and the future, MXMatt.com USB thumbdrives. 6/13/08 Featured Shot Click image to see full size (once downloaded click on it to zoom in)
This image was taken shortly after the start of the "Lites C" race, with the camera mostly focussed on rider #269 (Mike Will). While Mike is looking quite serious, the key point of the shot is actually behind him. It appears that one rider had a bit of bad luck, with #398 sadly about to join him. |
